Take your training to the next level with PoolMateHR!

April 24, 2014 in Product Spotlights, Swimming, Triathlon

For those that swim on their own – we’ve found the perfect training companion for those long sessions in the pool.

PoolMateHR

Swimovate’s PoolMateHR – the ultimate swim training watch!

PoolMateHR PackageWhat makes PoolMateHR different from the myriad of swim watches on the market? It has a heart rate monitor that works both in and out of the pool. We here at Swim2000 know how many of you have wanted an underwater heart rate monitor and we are so pleased to finally be able to offer it to you! Beyond the underwater heart rate monitor, PoolMateHR is loaded with tons of useful features.

One of our favorite aspects of this watch is the vibrating alarm. There are three different ways to use this feature – by laps, distance or time. Never lose track of your laps again by having the PoolMateHR vibrate on multiples of a set number of laps. Or have it vibrate every time you’ve gone a set amount of meters. If you don’t care about laps or distance, you can set it to vibrate after a certain amount of time so you know your workout is complete!

PoolMateHR SoftwareThe PoolMateHR also has its own easy-to-use computer software. Connect the watch to your PC or Mac and analyze your performance in the pool! Custom generated charts help you break down sessions, sets and laps. Study your heart rate, speed and technique progression by simply connecting your watch to the included USB charging and downloading pod.

If you’re serious about swimming, you won’t find any electronic device better than the PoolMateHR! Learn more by clicking here!

Start The New Year In The Pool!

January 2, 2014 in Product Spotlights

Happy New Year! The new year allows us all a fresh start and motivation to meet goals. One of those classic New Years’ goals is to get in shape. Sure, you could hit the treadmills and ellipticals like so many others in January, but why not try water workouts? Water aerobics and deep water running are great low-impact alternatives to dryland exercise, and it’s easy to tailor your workout to either weight loss or body toning. Here are some items to get you started on your New Years goals!

AquaJogger BeltWater Jog Belts

A necessity for any deep water exercise is a flotation belt. Strap a belt around your waist and float upright comfortably in the water! Jog belts come in tons of shapes and sizes – perhaps you’d prefer one solid piece of foam like the Aqua Sphere ErgoBelt, or a belt made up of many pieces of foam like the Water Gear 5-Piece Professional Belt Float? If you’re petite try the AquaJogger FIT Belt and if you’re on the larger side the SHAPE PRO Belt will do nicely! Last but not least, consider adding the Water Gear Water Runner Hitch to your belt to help you stay in place while exercising.

Water Dumbbells and Hydro Resistance

Hydro Resistance

Just like jog belts, water dumbbells and other hydro resistance tools come in many different forms! Most are made of lightweight foam and work from water creating resistance against the surface area of the object when it is pushed through the water. So when you are shopping for a water dumbbell that comes in more than one size like the Water Gear Resistance Bells, the sizes with more resistance will have more surface area than the ones with low resistance. Most dumbbells are cylindrical in shape and have the same resistance no matter which way you point them, but you can also try the AquaJogger Delta Bells for an item that offers variable resistance. Push the points through the water for less resistance, and the flat sides for more! If you’d rather not spend your entire workout clenching dumbbells, consider items like the Water Gear Micro Buoyancy Cuff or the AquaJogger X-Cuffs for added resistance you can strap around your wrists or ankles.

Aquatic Fitness SwimwearAquatic Fitness Swimwear

That new you needs a new swimsuit! We have you covered – literally. Our Aquatic Fitness swimwear is designed to flatter all body types, and you’ll find suits for women’s US dress sizes 4 to 24. Our biggest suggestion for those who plan on being in the pool a lot is to buy polyester swimwear. (Why? Check out this blog post for more information!) If bust support is your first priority in choosing a swimsuit, you can shop for suits with shelf bras or suits with soft cups. Or if the type of coverage is paramount, check out our moderate-cut swimsuits or our conservative-cut swimsuits!

We hope these aquatic fitness equipment guidelines will help you start off your New Year in the pool! Good luck!

Take Care of Yourself with Personal Care Swimming Products!

October 9, 2013 in Product Spotlights, Swimming, Triathlon

Dry itchy skin, green hair and smelling like chlorine are all problems of the past when you shop Personal Care at Swim2000! Here are a few highlighted products to help you smell fresh and feel great after swimming.

Shampoos and Conditioners

UltraSwim ShampooOne of our favorite shampoo-conditioner combos (and definitely a customer favorite!) is UltraSwim Shampoo and UltraSwim Conditioner. The shampoo has a unique formula that attacks chlorine build up, releasing chlorine bonded to your hair. The conditioner delivers extra moisture to chlorine-exposed locks and helps repair split ends. It’s also one of our lowest-priced hair care offerings, making it a perfect choice for those who need to wash the chlorine from their hair on a regular basis! Another favorite shampoo is Reflect H2O Sulfate Free Swim Shampoo. Those wanting to take extra special care of their hair will want to try this shampoo, as it contains quality ingredients that are gentle on your hair. Pair that with the Reflect H2O Pre-Swim and Sun Protecting Hair Gel for a complete solution for protecting your hair from chlorine!

Soaps, Body Washes and Chlorine Removal

Summer Solutions Soap+ BarWe’ll start simple by giving two thumbs up to the Summer Solutions Soap+ Bar. It’s gentle enough for sensitive skin and does a great job of removing chlorine from the skin. If you prefer body wash over bar soap, try the TriSwim Body Wash. Since it contains aloe it is also gentle on your skin, and the citrus scent is delightful! If you still can’t get rid of that annoying chlorine smell, SwimSpray is what you need! This Vitamin C spray is great at removing the chlorine smell, and it can be used on the body or on hair.

Lotion

TriSwim LotionChlorine can dry out the skin – that’s why it’s great to always have a bottle of Summer Solutions Moisture Therapy on hand. Specifically formulated for swimmers, this lotion will hydrate and soothe your dry skin. Another great choice is TriSwim Lotion, which contains Vitamin E and Vitamin B5 – ingredients that will help penetrate the skin to moisturize, hydrate and heal your skin.

Chafing Protection

BodyGlideSome of us don’t just swim, and we have products formulated for our triathlete friends too! A perennial favorite for preventing chafing is BodyGlide, which we have available in the original formulation as well as an anti-pain balm. If you want something created just for women, you’ll definitely want to try the aptly-named Reflect Sports Hoo Ha Ride Glide.

We hope this post helps you repair your hair and skin from the harsh effects of chlorine and chafing!

Stay Warm On Deck With Warmwear Products!

September 26, 2013 in Product Spotlights, Swimming

Do you feel that chill in the air? Even here in Las Vegas, our temperatures have dropped substantially in the last few weeks. Like us, you don’t stop your swim routine just because it’s chilly outside – but that doesn’t mean you have to freeze in or out of the water! Here are some suggestions for staying warm during this fall and winter.

Parkas @ Swim2000

Parkas

During the coldest months of the year, a parka may be the most invaluable item in your swim pack! Whether you’re looking for the tried-and-true Tyr Team Parka or the new Arena Piston Parka, you can’t go wrong with any selection. All our parkas have fleece interiors and exteriors that will help prevent cold winds from chilling you. We even have parkas for children, such as the Nike Youth Swim Parka.

Warm-Ups @ Swim2000Warm-Ups

Look stylish on deck in a brand-new warm-up set from one of many quality brands! Nike’s Laser Warm-Up Jacket and Pants are great choices with its Dri-FIT wickaway fabrication. You could also try the Speedo Boom Force Warm-Ups – they come in lots of great colors and are available in many sizes fit specifically for men, women or children. Dolfin Swimwear has recently come out with warm-ups as well and they are a perfect choice for the more budget-conscious swimmer.

Warm Wear @ Swim2000Warm Wear

If you’re looking for a more casual option to keep you warm that can be worn anywhere, why not check out our warm wear? You’ll find a large and colorful selection of hoodies, pullovers and sweat pants. A great choice for ladies is the Arena Parkour Zip Hoodie which comes in several vibrant colors. For ultimate comfort, women can also try the Speedo Yoga Pants. For the guys, there is the Tyr Throw Back V-Neck Pullover, which celebrates Tyr’s nearly 30-year history. You can even pick up matching sweat pants from Tyr!

Thermal Swim Wear @ Swim2000Thermal Wear

If it’s the water and not the air that’s chilling you, we have a solution! Check out our Thermal Wear selection, featuring Aqua Sphere’s Aqua Skins. If you only need to warm your core you can try the Aqua Skin Top, but if the water is frigid and you need maximum protection, try the Aqua Skin Full Suit. There are many options in between the two, fitted specifically for men and women – be sure to explore it all!

Happy swimming! Stay warm!

Choosing the Right Suit for Your Body Shape

August 1, 2013 in Product Spotlights, Swimming

Women come in all sorts of wonderful shapes and sizes – and Swim2000 carries a wide variety of suits that cater to all those shapes! Everyone’s heard of an hourglass shape, but do you know what an apple or pear shape is? This handy guide will explain 5 shapes and how to pick an amazing suit for each type. Big thanks to Arena for the graphics and a good portion of the information!

Apple Shape Apple Shape
Embrace your body with a suit that supports your shape and compliments your assets. A ‘one colour’ suit with vertical panels or piping down the front of each side, curving inwards gives the impression of a waist. A swimsuit with built in bra and full body support will emphasise your soft curves.

Our Pick: Aqua Sphere Lima Round Back

  Pear Pear
You are all woman! Your wonderful lower curves may benefit from a ‘low leg cut’ swimsuit. Bright colour and design across the bust will emphasise and draw attention away from your womanly hips and bottom. Try a suit with a padded bra, it will certainly help boost your assets.

Our Pick: Aqua Sphere Acacia Body Shape Back

Inverted Triangle Inverted Triangle
You have a strong, athletic body shape. Flatter it by drawing attention away from the top half of your body but to your slender lower half. This can be done by wearing a suit that has bright colour and bold design to the lower section.

Our Pick: Speedo Empire Splice Adjustable Crossback

Ruler Ruler
Your body shape suits almost any swimsuit!. Vertical panels or piping down the front of the suit which curve inwards at each side give the appearance of a waist whilst cheeky padded cups only maximize your already admirable shape.

Our Pick: Aqua Sphere Anise Round Back

Hourglass Hourglass
Embrace your fabulous curves and enhance them further with a swimsuit that offers a cup sized bra. Opt for a back that provides chest support and adjustable straps. You have a wonderfully feminine body so why not honour it with bright colours and bold design.

Our Pick: Dolfin Xtra Life Lycra Lap Suit Print
