Swim Goggles

Most swimmers will utilize goggles at some point during their life- first as children playing in a pool or outdoors and later more seriously in competitions, races, or on a team. Goggles have been around for centuries, with many experts speculating that Eskimos carved snow goggles from wood and shells and secured on the head using caribou sinew to shield their eyes from blinding snow. Fast forward to modern day and the swimming goggles on the market are much more technologically advanced than our predecessors could have imagined!

Major worldwide brands like Speedo, Tyr, Nike and more make goggles that not only keep water out, but have a variety of special features like UV protection, anti-fog, padded and mirrored lenses- the list goes on. We even carry children's goggles and Swedish goggles.

Picking Out the Right Goggles
To determine which goggles are best for you, you should visit a swim shop (like Swim2000!) to try on a pair. Different goggles have different lens shapes and you’ll want to try them out to see which ones are the most comfortable for you. Your goggles should not place pressure against your eyeballs, which could be distracting during practice or a race. The straps of the goggles should rest above your ears and be snug against your head. Make sure that there is no hair or anything else that could be trapped beneath your goggles and let water in. Goggles should be comfortable and increase your vision under the water. We also carry prescription goggles for those of you that wear glasses or contacts! Enjoy the benefits that you get from your dryland optical wear underwater, too.
